Complaints almost Xur's Exotic-boosting token came rolling inward over the weekend.
The Destiny 2 update that rolled out final calendar week added, with quite a discover of other things, a Three of Coins consumable sold past times Xur that the patch notes said "increases the drib adventure of Exotics." But next a weekend of play, an awful lot of people came away feeling similar it wasn't working similar it was supposed to, in addition to perhaps wasn't working at all.
Nobody could nation for certain, because Bungie, every bit is Bungie wont, revealed cipher almost what it's specifically supposed to do—whether it provides a 10 per centum boost, or l percent, or doubles the chance, or something else entirely. But the feeling that something was off-base was plenty that Bungie said on Dominicus that it would aspect into the affair further.
The results of that investigation were posted today, commencement with a breakdown of how the Three of Coins really works—something it should convey done correct from the start. "When players role a Three of Coins consumable, this provides a 50% increment to the base of operations adventure of existence rewarded an Exotic Engram upon activeness completion. Using this consumable does non guarantee an Exotic vantage upon completing a laid discover of activities—but rather increased chances upon each activeness completion."
Apparently it was working every bit intended, then—except for ane footling hitch. "We convey works life that Heroic Strikes produce non currently grant higher chances for Exotics when using Three of Coins consumables, compared to Vanguard Strikes," Bungie wrote. "We’re looking to address this with a futurity Hotfix, expected inward early on 2018."
So if you lot were grinding Heroic Strikes over the weekend, popping Three of Coins all the agency through to maximize the payoff for your efforts, you lot forthwith convey official confirmation that you lot weren't existence bitten inward the donkey past times a peculiarly roughshod RNG snake, the thing precisely wasn't working. My ain enquiry wasn't nearly every bit in-depth every bit that of some redditors—I bought one, got nothing, in addition to that was plenty for me—I can't honestly claim to hold out super-surprised past times this outcome.
I similar Destiny ii good enough—I'm yet playing, although non grinding nearly every bit ferociously every bit really dedicated players—but Bungie's ongoing string of self-inflicted injuries is form of astounding to watch. Destiny ii is all almost numbers, therefore why withhold them? And why—why?— when something goes wrong, would you lot toss off a vague hope of perhaps fixing it upwards side past times side year? Bugs happen, I larn that, especially inward a game with the breadth of Destiny 2, but studios tin privy larn a long agency toward ameliorating their touching on past times precisely communicating with thei fans. Players volition seat upwards with a lot every bit long every bit they don't experience similar you're dicking them around. Persistent opacity? Not therefore much.
Bungie also said on Twitter that it is also looking into reports that Xur's Fated Engrams are dropping items already owned past times players, which is non supposed to happen. Up to you, but my feeling is that you'll belike desire to hang on to your Legendary Shards until this is all straightened out.
We are investigating reports that around players convey received duplicate Exotic rewards from Fated Engrams. More information volition hold out provided in ane lawsuit available.December 18, 2017
